My masterpiece is ready

... kinda.

I wasn't really inspired, and kinda rushed through this task. I only had limited amount of interesting sounds, so I ended up with a 30+ second piece, instead of the 2-10 minutes that was advised. I felt that the extra minutes wouldn't bring anything new to the piece or make it more interesting.

So, apparently I can't use Adobe Audition

I've tried editing my sound-piece for three times. The first two were lost when program crashed, and it didn't save the changes I've made. Yesterday I edited quite a bit, but today when I open the project, it's just ... gone.

Not feeling too inspired at the time right now.

Parrots did make alot of noises. I should have planned this better. Now it's just noise edited all together...

Recording the parrots!

Today I recorded the parrots for the project. It wasn't as easy as I thought, since all the three of the parrots kept making noises, so it was hard to record "pure" sounds from just one.

Recording exercize

Today we got zooms for us to use for few hours! I've been walking in the school area and recording different sounds made by everyday objects.

It's clear, that I don't have nearly as much imagination for looking different sounds as our teacher or some other students. I find myself recording not-so-original sounds, for example automatic doors, steps and humming of the milk cooler. My partner in crime Elisa was actually creating sounds, for example wrinkling plastic bag, touching all kinds of materials differently, pouring water in the sink etc...

First ideas for the main task

The main task of this course is to make a maybe 2-10 minutes long creative sound artwork. My first idea is to record my friends parrots that are living with me for a week.

They can't really talk, but they like to shriek and scream. Also, Minna suggested to record any other sounds they are making, for example eating sounds. Also, someone suggested to add some background sounds that doesn't fit to the parrots noises at all. I'm thinking traffic sounds and parrots, how would that sound like!

I watched an interesting movie lately, Sound of noise. It was about anarchist group making music in most unconventional ways, and tone-deaf cop trying to solve the case.
